Sportsbook Payout Methods

Sportsbook Payout Methods

The fastest way for U.S. legal sports bettors to withdraw money depends on the payout method the sportsbook offers. Digital wallets like Venmo and PayPal can be the most efficient way to withdraw from a sportsbook, followed by instant debit card payouts and online banking methods. But all sportsbooks are not the same, and bettors need to pay attention to each sportsbook's specific withdrawal rules.

Digital wallets and instant debit card payouts

For a sports bettor wondering, "Which is the quickest way to get my money out?" digital wallets like PayPal and Venmo are often the top choice. Those payment methods can offer nearly instantaneous payouts if approved, though withdrawal speed ultimately depends on the financial institution.

Betr Sportsbook, for instance, says approved PayPal and Venmo payouts are processed the same day and typically arrive in the bank within 24 to 72 hours, depending on the financial institution. The sportsbook installs a minimum withdrawal of $10. Betr does not support PayPal and Venmo payouts from its Social Sportsbook or Casino, though those payment methods are available for payouts from Fantasy Wallet.

Prime Sportsbook's help page suggests that bettors withdraw funds to Venmo or PayPal should expect a more extended wait. The sportsbook said approved PayPal and Venmo payouts usually post "to the bank covered in 1 to 3 days."

CBS Sports' 2026 payout guide suggests that instant debit options are among the quickest methods, along with digital wallets.

Bank transfer, eCheck, and Play+ card payouts

Many online sportsbooks offer bank transfer or electronic check (eCheck) withdrawals, though many of those options require a one- or two-day hold. Caesars Sportsbook support, for example, recommends that its customers use the "VIP Preferred eCheck" payout method because it posts to a linked bank account within one or two business days, making it one of the company's fastest withdrawal methods.

But the pace of Play+ withdrawals actually depends on the sports betting operator. U.S. Gambling's Play+ guide, for example, suggests that Play+ card payouts can post in 48 hours. TheLines, in a 2026 Play+ card guide, also says that Play+ card payouts are processed within 48 hours of sportsbook approval.

Sports bettors looking to move their winnings to a Play+ card are unlikely to pay extra. TheLines also notes that sportsbooks do not charge fees to withdraw winnings to a Play+ card. US Gambling similarly suggests that there are no charges to access funds inside a Play+ account.

Payout minimums and fees

Payout minimums depend on the sportsbook in question. Some, such as Caesars, allow $1 withdrawal requests for digital payouts. Betr, on the other hand, enforces a $10 minimum withdrawal amount. TheLines, in a 2026 withdrawal guide, notes a $10 minimum withdrawal across all sportsbooks in its review.

Similarly, sportsbooks' withdrawal fee policies can be operator-specific. CBS Sports' 2026 payout guide notes that all the major U.S. sportsbooks in its sample do not charge extra to withdraw winnings. Caesars' Colorado support page says that Apple Pay and PayPal withdrawals are free, with no surcharges. Betr's payout page does not mention a withdrawal fee on its end. US Gambling, on the other hand, warns that some sportsbooks do charge fees for certain payout methods.

Closing the payout loop

Frequently, sportsbooks return withdrawals to the payment method they were funded. This is arguably by design. It's known colloquially in the compliance world as the "closed loop." FanDuel, for example, says that PayPal and Venmo withdrawals cannot be sent to a debit or credit card. Instead, the sportsbook sends those payouts to a linked bank account.

Sportsbooks say this is standard customer protection.

Approval/payout review slows the first withdrawal

The first withdrawal at a sportsbook can be the slowest.
