Sports betting is now up and running in Wyoming. The Cowboy state is one among only eleven US states where online sports betting is allowed. Currently, the state is set to remain with online-only sports betting for an indefinite period of time. However, some tribally-run Wyoming betting sites residing in the western part of the state have hinted at introducing land-based sports betting.

That information does not have any firm evidence with regard to when exactly such a service will be open. Nevertheless, at some point, the state will no doubt offer full-service sports betting. If you are traveling or will be visiting Wyoming and you are curious about the state laws and sports betting, you are in the right place. This article provides information on everything you need to know.

Online sports betting is now legal in the state of Wyoming. The first-ever wager was placed at the beginning of September 2025. This was after a signature by Governor Mark Gordon on HB133. There are now several legitimate websites and mobile apps that can be used to wager on sporting events. More platforms will be launched under Wyoming’s rules and regulations.

What sports can I bet on?

In terms of what you can bet on, not everything is included due to the restrictions set out by HB133. The law that allows sports betting also has a restriction regarding wagers on high school sports. The majority of these games include players who are minors. This restriction comes as no surprise since the law is universal in the other US states that have legalized online sports betting. Other than this restriction most sporting events are legal. The sports you can bet on include:

  • Baseball
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Auto racing
  • Tennis
  • Hockey
  • Golf
  • Mixed martial arts
  • Soccer

Within each sport, there is a range of sporting events you can wager on. Keep in mind that the list above is not comprehensive, and it may change over time.

Wyoming sports betting sites

Sports bettors in Wyoming have different websites to choose from since the legalization of sports betting. Available websites have been licensed by the state under the Wyoming Gambling Commission. These platforms offer unique markets for sports betting both within the US and from around the world. When choosing one of these platforms to try your luck, there are a few features you should consider.

For most sports bettors, live betting adds a whole new level to the experience. Players get to wager on games that have already kicked off or are still in play. Competitive odds also matter when choosing a betting website. Some sites have a higher return compared to others. Other factors to consider include speed of payouts, bonus offers, betting options, security, and customer support, among others.

Betting apps in Wyoming

When it comes to mobile betting apps Wyoming has legalized the use of sports betting and horse racing apps. However, online casino apps are still illegal. Sports betting apps were officially live after HB133 was passed. Wyoming’s Gaming Commission required that the apps started running by September 1, 2025. This was before the beginning of the 2025 NFL season. On that day, two apps were approved and went live.

When looking for an app for sports betting, ensure that you find one that is legal in the state. Most legal apps are available on the Google Play Store and the iOS Apple Store. Sportsbook websites also provide links to download their apps directly. Never take risks by installing offshore gaming apps.

Responsible gaming

Now that Wyoming has made sports betting legal, it could be easy for players to get carried away and spend an excessive amount on the activity. This calls for responsible ways to limit spending and sports betting. For instance, most online betting platforms include various controls that can be applied to protect a player’s bankroll. These controls include activating time limits, spending limits, and deposit limits.

For example, once you have reached your specified spending limit, you won’t be allowed to wager until a specified period of time passes. In the case of mobile applications, there is a cooling-off period that closes your account for a certain period of time. Once that time has elapsed, you can log in again to continue betting. For those affected by gambling problems, they can get help anonymously. Some agencies that can help include the Wyoming Council on Problem Gambling (WCPG) and the Wyoming Department of Health

Wrap up on Wyoming sports betting

The state of Wyoming has made a significant step towards the legalization of sports betting. With time, lawmakers may begin to push legislators towards full legalization. Not only will that include online gaming but also sports betting at brick-and-mortar casinos. Currently, the only legal option is to wager on sports online on the small number of licensed and regulated platforms.

Laws set by the state also limit the games you can wager on. Even so, those available can still provide plenty of choice. Apps and gaming websites are the only allowed platforms. Apps can be found on your phone’s store or from a sportsbook’s website. Remember, although betting is legal, it is important to practice responsible betting to avoid huge losses.
